Some of Our Core Values
Integrity: Word, accountability, acknowledgement & truth telling.
Play: Creativity from a place of joy. Having fun. Celebration
Honour: “Ionaway” (I honour your way). We recognize that everyone is a divine child of God and honour their journey and the diverse culture, folk and religious traditions, sacred elements and spiritual beliefs within the community.
Dignity: We value human dignity and the worth of all persons and are committed to a holistic approach that promotes healing and hope for the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs and expression of each person.
Love: The heartful reflection of the love and grace of the divine spirit, respecting all of God’s creation.
Servant Leadership: Serving the church with both humility and boldness. We recognize that we are all teachers and students to one another. We value creating opportunities for service, partnership, mentorship and gift development. We encourage the evolution of loving, innovative, adaptive, wise, discerning, bold and courageous ministers.
Discernment: Seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit through prayer, sacred texts, community and our own inner guidance.
Intentionality: We value conscientiousness and creating our thoughts, words and actions with as much intentionality as we are able to practice.
Sovereignty: We recognize and honour the divine sovereignty of each individual.
Worship: We recognize, venerate and praise God, Jesus Christ, prophets, master teachers, saints, angels and spiritual beings of many cultures. We praise and consider the divine spark within each of us as holy.
Community: We value community and the voice of community members in making decisions for their individual lives and their community. We value cultivating relationships, sharing our experiences and learning and encouraging one another in our journeys. We care for the whole fabric of the community, building up all children of God as distinctive parts of the whole.
Stewardship: Caring for all God’s gifts and the resources of the Church and the land we have been blessed to steward. We value being guardians of nature. Working with God’s plants to better understand our place in the cycle of life and the role God wishes us to play as stewards of land.
Transcendence: We value practices geared towards spiritual transcendence like meditation, prayer, bodywork, breathwork, divination, sensory deprivation, trance, chanting, songs, drumming, ecstatic dance and other mystical practices that assist us in connection with God and the cycle of life.
Creation: While we value and honour tradition we also value exploration, invention, conscious creation, ingenuity and play.
